Limp suede covers, with blind stamp title and, a highland scene, to the front cover. Top page edges gilt. Brown endpapers (with hand written gift dedication). Art nouveau style decorated frontis and title. Clean text throughout. Everyman's Library No. 94. With an "Introduction" by James Douglas, dated 1906: "Burns has no rival in the art of singing the soul into song and setting the heart to music. His poetry is pure passion. His note falls like the note of a lark straight from the throat of life. It is not an imitation of life, but life itself running into laughter and tears."
