elcome to the third issue of "Loose Pages", the beckhambooks.com newsletter.

Our archive links are situated at the top right of this page and will of course appear up-to-date for all subsequent issues.

You can subscribe to "Loose Pages" and receive the current issue, as it's published, in a monthy E-Mail. In addition to receiving a convenient breakdown of the current issue you will also be privy to new promotions and aquisitions before anyone else.

This beginning of summer has been especially busy down at Beckhambooks. In addition to fine tuning our newly transformed website, Adrian is continuing to do a super job maintaining the Beckhambooks.com blog and has been churning out the posts - you can see for yourself. The most recent posts have included:

We've made some interesting aquisitions recently, you might have noticed the Victorian Illuminated Calendar on our home page. I especially like the frontis; I recommend you take a look at the frontis and more shots of the calendar here...

Anyway, enough of me; lets get on with the good stuff!

Quality Packaging!
hen you order a book from Beckham Books, you can be sure that it will be well packed for the journey!
We have received many compliments on the quality of our packaging. So you can be assured your book will arrive safe and sound. If a book is to stand up to the rigours of the postal service it needs to be packed well.

Each book is:

1. Sealed in a plastic bag...
2. Wrapped in bubble wrap...
3. And then sealed in self-adhesive corrugated cardboard.
To ensure a tight seal we press the book in a book press and then seal the ends with adhesive tape.

We try to ensure a high quality of service. So we use the same quality packaging for a £3.00 book as a £300.00 book.

Who was May Gladwin?

We recently came across this little gem of a book and are intrigued as to who its author, May Gladwin was? If you can help us, we'd be most gratful. You can see more detailed images and information on our blog...

"The Doll Book", May Gladwin 1904

Your queries regarding book collecting and restoration

Here at Beckhambooks.com we've gained a huge amount of knowledge and expertise regarding professional book collecting and restoration. For example in one of our latest blog posts, Adrian describes a very effective technique that uses paper to repair old bindings . Of course, the finish on a binding is also tremendously important and this post describes in more detail the magic SC 7400 (SC 6000 in the U.S.A) polish compound and it's properties.
