14cms x 11cms. Reprint. First story written by the later author of "Rebecca of Sunnybrooke Farm" to finance her training kindergarten in San Francisco. Pp.68/3, colour frontispiece by Cecil W.Quinnell + 3 further colour illustrations, gift message and embossed bookseller's stamp(F.T.Groom, Bury St Edmunds) to front free endpaper, browning to endpapers and a few occasional minor spots throughout. Grey/green cloth with 'art nouveau' style decoration surrounding pasted down colour illustration(as per the frontispiece) to front board. G+. ** "Kate Douglas Wiggin, nee Smith was an American children's author and educator. She was born in Philadelphia, and was of Welsh descent. She started the first free kindergarten in San Francisco in 1878 (the "Silver Street Free Kindergarten").
