A lovely little book in its original cloth binding. Red case binding of red wave grain cloth with blind blocked panel stamp on both covers. Gold blocked vignette of church on upper cover. Spine gold blocked in decorative pattern enclosing title. Boards a little rubbed and top & tail of spine carefully strengthened. All page edges gilt (now dulled). Yellow endpapers. Dedication to front free-endpaper dated 1859 (a little smudged). Half title, followed by engraved title by "J. S. Stott Engr. Halx. "; followed by a printed title dated 1858. Light foxing to titles, othwise clean text throughout. A well preserved book from a rarely seen provincial printer. 16mo. 12.5cm x 8cm x 2.2cm. pp. viii, [9]-383 . Full title reads: "Life of Mrs. Fletcher : with a brief sketch of the character of her beloved husband, the Rev. John Fletcher, of Madeley, to which is annexed several of their letters, with select beauties from his writings / by J. Burns, Minister of Aenon Chapel, St. Marylebone, author of "Youthful piety", "The Christian's daily portion", "Death-bed triumphs", etc., etc."
