LIGHTFOOT, J. B. ; JAMES, M. R. ; SWETE, H. B. [ Introduction by: ROBINSON, J. Armitage ]. Excluded Books of the New Testament . London: Eveleigh Nash & Grayson Ltd., 1927 . 0 Second impression May, 1927 (The First impression - April 1927). 8vo. A very good black cloth binding. Edges a little rubbed. Red page edges. Previous owners details to verso of the front board. Clean text throughout. Translated by: Joseph Barber Lightfoot (1828-1889); Montague Rhodes James (1862-1936); Henry Barclay Swete (1835-1917) . [ Introduction by Joseph Armitage Robinson (1858-1933) ]. CONTENTS : Introduction, The Book of James, The Gospel of Nicodemus, The Gospel of Peter, The Revelation of Peter, The Genuine Epistle of S. Clement, The So-called Second Epistle of S. Clement, The Epistle of Barnabas, and The Shepherd of Hermas. The person who wrote the Introduction dislikes the title because, to him, it suggests that these writings were once a part of the New Testament but later ejected for various reasons. The translator places the books listed in this volume into two categories. The first is Apocryphal in that added information of Jesus given. The second is a treatise in the form of a letter and of highest historical value. Price:
